Care guide
Made to last.
Here's how to keep it that way.
Every Embroidist piece is built with permanence in mind — German viscose threads, natural canvas, premium cotton. A little care goes a long way. Follow these simple guidelines and your piece will look just as good decades from now.

About our threads
We use German viscose (rayon) embroidery threads — chosen for their natural sheen, color depth and long-term durability. These threads are color-stable, highly washable and hold their vibrancy wash after wash. They are not synthetic shortcuts. They are the same threads used in world-class embroidery — sourced from Germany, stitched in Meerut.
Embroidered t-shirts & garments
Washing
- Machine wash cold to warm — up to 60°C is recommended for longevity
- Turn garment inside out before washing
- Use a mild detergent — no bleach, no fabric softener on the embroidery
- Do not soak for extended periods
- Do not leave damp garments folded or stacked — air dry promptly
Drying & ironing
- Tumble dry on low heat or air dry flat
- If ironing, always iron on the reverse side — never directly on the embroidery
- A pressing cloth between the iron and garment adds extra protection
Wall art
Our wall art is embroidered on natural canvas, stretched over a frame and protected behind glass. It is built to last as long as the walls it hangs on — as long as you treat it with the same care you would any piece of art.
Display & cleaning
- Display indoors in a shaded or softly lit area
- Avoid direct, all-day sunlight — Indian sunshine is intense, and even the finest art fades gradually with prolonged direct exposure
- Dust the glass gently with a soft dry cloth — no wet wipes, no spray cleaners on the glass
- Keep away from areas of high moisture or steam
A note on sunlight
All art — oil, watercolor, photograph, embroidery — fades over time when exposed to direct sunlight. Indoors, away from direct sun, your Embroidist wall art will retain its color and detail virtually indefinitely. A shaded wall is all it needs.
Bags & patches
Follow the same care guidelines as embroidered garments — machine wash cold, inside out, mild detergent, no bleach. For patches that are ironed on rather than sewn, hand wash cold is recommended to preserve the bond.
